Turbat University: Awareness Seminar on Balochistan RISE Program Emphasis on Youth Empowerment, Peaceful Society, and Their Role in Socio-Economic Development

An awareness seminar on the RISE Balochistan Program was held at the University of Turbat on April 14, 2026, under the auspices of the Balochistan Rural Support Program (BRSP) with the support of the Government of Balochistan. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan chaired the seminar, while Deputy Commissioner Kech, Yasir Iqbal Dashti, attended as the Chief Guest.

The seminar was attended by BRSP RISE Project Regional Manager Altaf Sakhi, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and IT Dr. Hanif-ur-Rehman, faculty members Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Dr. Mushtaq Badini, Director Public Relations Ijaz Ahmed, PSO to the Vice Chancellor Meer Bahad, Assistant Registrar Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo, faculty members, and a large number of students.

During the event, university students Jafar Khan, Hamal, and Maria presented their business ideas, which were highly appreciated by the participants.

In his presidential address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan thanked the distinguished guests for their participation and termed the seminar a welcome initiative. He encouraged youth to come forward with innovative business ideas and take full advantage of available opportunities. He reaffirmed the University of Turbat’s commitment to providing guidance and support to aspiring young entrepreneurs. He further stated that the university is actively working on a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing students’ professional and digital skills alongside quality education.

The seminar’s Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Kech Yasir Iqbal Dashti, highlighted that peace, social harmony, and economic development are interlinked factors, and youth serve as a strong bridge among them. He emphasized that without sustainable peace, business activities and development cannot progress at the desired pace. He further said that, under the policy guidance of the Chief Secretary, the Government of Balochistan will effectively implement the RISE Balochistan Program as a flagship initiative to create economic opportunities for youth, women, and underprivileged communities, and to lay the foundation of a peaceful and stable society.

BRSP RISE Project Regional Manager Altaf Sakhi highlighted the objectives of the program, stating that RISE Balochistan is a comprehensive development model aimed at empowering youth, providing them with opportunities, and promoting peace and social cohesion at the community level.

Resource persons Dr. Ghulam Jan and Dr. Mushtaq Badini highlighted the role of youth in sustainable development and community development. They said that entrepreneurial trends are rapidly growing among university students, with many managing businesses alongside their studies, while others are entering the business sector after graduation, which reflects a positive shift. They also emphasized the importance of human resource development, social well-being, and student participation in decision-making, encouraging students to fully benefit from the RISE Program.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, the seminar’s focal person, Dr. Abdul Qayyum, welcomed the participants and thanked the faculty and administrative staff for their support in organizing the event successfully.

At the end of the seminar, commemorative shields were distributed among the guests, speakers, and organizers.
