Chief Justice inaugurates Law department in Turbat University

Balochistan High Court (BHC) Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai has advised students to acquire law education in maximum numbers to meet the demand for law professionals in the province and play a vital role in the supremacy of rule of law and provision of speedy justice to the masses. Inaugurating the newly-established Department of Law at the University Public Library (UPL) on Thursday October 5, 2017, he recalled the August 8, 2016 suicide attack in Quetta in which more than 75 competent Lawyers were martyred, leaving a vacuum in the legal fraternity.

Chief Justice said it was great moment for him to inaugurate the Law department in Turbat University and that was really a red-letter day for the people of Makran region as this provides an opportunity to the students to choose the Law discipline besides a host of other choices available to them. Chief Justice appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor University of Turbat Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir and his team for opening the Department of Law at Turbat University on his request. He assured that Balochistan High Court would be willing to assist it in any way possible and looks forward to a long term journey of cooperation and coordination with Turbat University. Chief Justice also ensured the university administration that the Judges would teach law students voluntarily. He wished Turbat University for a prosperous future ahead.

In his welcome address Vice Chancellor Turbat University Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir thanked the Honorable Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai and other Honorable Judges and distinguished guests for sparing times from their busy schedule. He said that their presence and a word of advice would be a source of inspiration for the students of Turbat University and faculty members and would guide their future course of conduct. He said “Justice consists not in being neutral between right and wrong, but in finding out the right and upholding it, wherever found, against the wrong” He said “Turbat University has started its journey of education with three programs now we reached to 15 programs of study and by 2025 we set a target of 30 programs of study as university steadfastly held on to its vision of a modern University that harvests and maximizes human potential through practical degree programs and hands on research oriented disciplines since its inception. The University has particularly been effective in filling an educational void in Makran and its adjacent areas. Vice Chancellor disclosed his institution ensured that higher education is no longer a distant dream but a practical reality for the people living in far flung areas of the country. Earnest efforts are consistently underway to promote a vibrant research culture and provide a favorable environment to both its faculty members and students for exploration and innovative market oriented higher learning.”

Honorable Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar urged not to distribute degrees only but to disseminate valued education to our young generation. He said Makran is land of talent as in competitive exam seven out of 10 positions of civil judge and Judicial Magistrate were clinched by competent candidates from Makran on merit belonging to poor family.

Advocate General Balochistan Amanullah Kanrani said that Makran division had been fertile in term of talent and wisdom and people from Makran were serving in different spheres of life successfully. Chairman Department of Law Prof Dr Gul Hassan asked the well-off people to contribute for the promotion of education in the region.

In the conclusion of the ceremony the Vice Chancellor presented the Balochi traditional Chadir to honorable guests. Earlier, Varsity’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir along with his team warmly welcomed the Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony Chief Justice BHC honorable Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai and other honorable judges of the Balochistan High Court.
